Manufacturing
Production lines and process equipment often create sustained demand throughout the month.
How the Program Works
A participating battery program provider owns, permits, installs, operates, maintains, monitors and insures the battery. Your business hosts the system on-site without purchasing it.
The battery supports the electric grid by storing energy when supply is high and releasing it when demand peaks. Part of that value may be shared with qualifying customers as an annual benefit, as disclosed in the customer's agreement.
When backup is available, the battery can respond automatically during a grid outage. Backup is intended for short-term outages, and duration depends on usage and the battery's charge.
No-cost battery hosting
No equipment purchase, installation, hosting or maintenance fees during the program for qualifying businesses, subject to the final agreement.
500 kW minimum in Texas
Monthly average metered demand, measured within a single month.
120-month (10-year) battery agreement
The battery agreement term in both Texas and Illinois.
Separate battery meter
Your bill reflects your business's actual electricity consumption.
Suitable Facilities
Eligibility depends on metered demand, site conditions and program review — not on industry alone.
Production lines and process equipment often create sustained demand throughout the month.
Continuous refrigeration loads can contribute to high monthly average demand.
Processing, chilling and packaging operations commonly run on extended schedules.
Material handling, lighting and climate control across large footprints.
Larger properties with heavy HVAC and 24/7 guest operations.
Any Texas facility averaging at least 500 kW of metered demand within a month may be reviewed.
Service Area
Flip Energy is based in the Rio Grande Valley and evaluates qualifying commercial and industrial facilities in eligible deregulated Texas markets, including the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth.
Flip Energy does not have offices outside the Rio Grande Valley. Program availability depends on the property's utility territory, metered demand and the participating provider.
Why Evaluate
Texas Only · Separate Service
Flip Energy can also help Texas businesses compare competitive commercial electricity options. This is a separate, optional service — you don't need to change your electricity plan to be evaluated for a battery, and businesses that don't meet the 500 kW minimum can still request a quote. Savings are not guaranteed.
Know Your Numbers
Battery eligibility in Texas is based on demand in kilowatts (kW), not energy in kilowatt-hours (kWh). Many commercial bills show both — they are different numbers.
kW — demand (what qualifies)
How much power your facility draws at a time. Look for a demand line on your commercial bill or interval data, usually labeled in kW. Eligibility uses the average metered demand within a single month — not the single highest peak and not an annual average.
kWh — energy (does not qualify by itself)
How much energy you used over the billing period. A large kWh total does not by itself show whether you meet the 500 kW minimum.
Not sure which number is which, or your bill doesn't show demand? Choose "Unknown" in the form and — we'll help review it with you.
Texas FAQs
Texas facilities need a minimum of 500 kW monthly average metered demand. This is the average metered electrical demand (kW) measured within a single month — not peak demand, not an annual average and not monthly energy consumption (kWh). A facility can use a lot of kWh and still fall below 500 kW of demand, or vice versa.
For qualifying businesses, there is no equipment purchase cost, no installation charge and no ongoing battery hosting or maintenance fee during the program. The provider owns the battery; your facility hosts it. This is subject to eligibility review, the final agreement and its terms.
Qualifying customers may receive an annual financial benefit as disclosed in their agreement. Amounts depend on the program and battery size, and are not guaranteed.
The battery agreement is 120 months (10 years).
No. A commercial electricity quote is a separate, optional Texas service and is not required for battery eligibility.
Yes. Flip Energy can still help Texas businesses compare competitive commercial electricity rates, even if the facility doesn't meet the battery program minimum.
The participating program provider owns, permits, installs, operates, maintains, monitors and insures the battery.
Yes, with landlord approval. The program provider can provide a License for Alterations form for the landlord.
