The qualifying business does not purchase the battery under the applicable provider-owned program.
Free evaluations are available for qualifying commercial and industrial facilities in eligible Texas and Illinois markets. Battery program availability varies by location, energy usage and participating provider.
Industrial Battery Storage Explained
A commercial battery energy storage system (BESS) is an on-site, commercial-scale battery that stores electricity and releases it when needed. Under the programs Flip Energy evaluates, the battery supports the grid by storing energy when supply is high and releasing it when demand peaks — and, where backup is available, it can provide short-term commercial battery backup for your facility.
Flip Energy does not manufacture or install batteries. We review your facility, explain the program structure and coordinate the evaluation with participating battery program providers, who own, install, operate, maintain, monitor and insure the system.
When backup is available, the battery can respond automatically during a grid outage, and you are notified when the business is running on battery power. Industrial battery backup under these programs is intended for short-term outages, not multi-day events; duration depends on your usage and the battery's charge.
Texas facilities need at least 500 kW of monthly average metered demand — measured within a single month, not peak demand and not kWh. Manufacturing, cold storage, food processing, large warehouses and high-consumption hospitality properties are common candidates. Final eligibility is decided by the program provider.
Based in the Rio Grande Valley, Flip Energy evaluates qualifying facilities in eligible deregulated Texas markets, including the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth. Availability depends on utility territory, energy usage and the participating provider. See Texas commercial battery storage requirements.

Three Things to Understand
$0*
The qualifying business does not purchase the battery under the applicable provider-owned program.
You pay for the energy your business uses.
Your electricity remains subject to the applicable retail electricity agreement.
A contractual program benefit.
The applicable program provides an Annual Battery Credit of at least $2,000, based on the size of the installed battery system.
*Eligibility and program terms apply.
Short-Term Backup Power
When backup is available, the battery can respond automatically during a grid outage.
The customer is notified when the business is running on battery power.
A fully charged battery can provide meaningful protection during short-term outages. Backup duration depends on the business's usage and the battery's charge at the time of the outage.
Backup Availability
The battery fleet maintains approximately a 70% state of charge on average between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Generator-Compatible Battery Solutions
Facilities with an existing generator may still be evaluated for an onsite battery system. Depending on the participating program and site configuration, the battery may support grid stabilization and energy management while the generator remains available for its intended role.
Final configuration and program availability depend on the facility, utility territory, energy usage and participating provider.
The battery generates value by supporting the electric grid, and part of that value is shared with the customer through an Annual Battery Credit. The applicable program provides an Annual Battery Credit of at least $2,000. The actual credit is based on the size of the installed battery system and is disclosed in the customer's agreement or proposal.
Electricity + Battery
Evaluate no-cost battery hosting, backup capability and an Annual Battery Credit.
Evaluate rate, contract term, provider options and commercial electricity structure.
Send us your qualifying commercial electricity proposal and let us determine whether we can match or beat the electricity offer. Not every quote, contract structure or customer qualifies. Commercial electricity quotes are available for Texas businesses only.
Qualifying Texas businesses may reduce the electricity supply portion of their bill by 30%–50% with a more competitive commercial energy plan.
Actual savings vary based on the customer's current rate, contract, usage profile, location and available plans. Savings are not guaranteed and exclude regulated delivery charges, taxes and fees.
Metering & Billing
The customer pays for the electricity the business uses. The battery is installed with a separate energy meter that measures the customer's usage independently from the battery's activity.
The customer's electricity bill reflects the business's actual electricity consumption.
Ownership & Operations
The battery sits on the customer's property, while the program provider handles the operational responsibility. Flip Energy helps businesses evaluate the opportunity and connect with the appropriate battery program provider.
Run your business.
Owns, permits, installs, operates, maintains, monitors and insures the battery.

From Review to Activation
The participating provider—not Flip Energy—coordinates the technical project under applicable program terms.
The business and location are reviewed.
A concrete pad may be included in construction.
Fencing may be included when needed.
Site work may include trenching.
Delivery may require a crane.
The installation team completes required electrical work.
Interconnection and inspection are completed when required.
The system is calibrated and tested.
Interconnection may require a brief power interruption of approximately 2–4 hours. The installation team coordinates timing with the business to minimize disruption.
Suitable Facilities
High-usage industrial and commercial operations are the strongest candidates for a battery evaluation.

Commercial Battery FAQs
Flip Energy evaluates qualifying commercial and industrial businesses for battery programs in Texas and Illinois. Commercial electricity quotes are available for Texas businesses only; in Illinois, Flip Energy assists with the battery program only.
Texas requires a minimum of 500 kW monthly average metered demand. Illinois requires a minimum of 100 kW monthly average metered demand. This is the average metered electrical demand (kW) measured within a single month—not peak demand, not a 12-month average and not monthly energy consumption (kWh).
No. Flip Energy evaluates eligibility and coordinates the process with participating battery program providers. The provider owns, permits, installs, operates, maintains, monitors and insures the battery.
A fully installed commercial-scale battery can cost upwards of $150,000. Under the hosting program, qualifying businesses do not pay to purchase the equipment, do not pay installation charges and do not pay ongoing battery hosting or maintenance fees during the program. The provider owns the battery and the business hosts it on site, subject to the final program agreement, which governs all terms including any early termination or removal provisions.
The battery creates value by supporting the electric grid. It can store energy when supply is high and release energy when demand peaks. The program provider owns and manages the battery, while the business receives the on-site benefits without making the large capital investment required to purchase and install the system.
The battery program provider owns, permits, installs, operates, maintains, monitors and insures the battery. The battery sits on the customer's property, while the provider handles the operational responsibility.
When backup is available, the battery can respond automatically during a grid outage. The customer is notified when the business is running on battery power.
A fully charged battery can provide backup power during short-term outages. Duration depends on the business's usage and the battery's charge at the time of the outage. The program is not presented as protection for multi-day outages.

A battery may be installed without backup-power capability. Under that configuration, the customer may receive a larger Annual Battery Credit.
Yes, but landlord approval is required before proceeding. The program provider can provide a License for Alterations form for the landlord to acknowledge or approve the installation.
The agreements are assignable subject to the program's process. The new business is reviewed, and documents can be prepared for the new owner to assume the remaining agreement. If assignment is not possible, a removal fee may apply. The fee depends on battery size and is disclosed in the contract.
The battery agreement is 120 months, or 10 years, in both Texas and Illinois.
After approval, construction may include a concrete pad, fencing, trenching, battery delivery—potentially by crane—electrical work, interconnection, inspection when required, calibration and testing.
Interconnection may require a brief power interruption of approximately 2–4 hours. The installation team coordinates timing with the business to minimize disruption.
The system is designed and installed according to applicable safety standards. The program provider manages, maintains, monitors and insures it. Battery performance and health are monitored remotely, and many issues can be diagnosed, reset or addressed remotely.
